On driving to chemotherapy

1 Aug 2009

In Minnesota

in February

the black cows

that graze

in view of the freeway

pull their hooves

and move

through the snow

          and sparse wheat.

They are as strong

and graceful

as the herds

of buffalo

    and wildebeest

that migrate

in the morning shadows

of the African
